How this started
I became a poet in the last place I looked.
For most of my life the page stayed blank. I had things to say, but the formats that were supposed to hold them — spoken-word, the poem on the page — never pulled me in enough to spend the hours. So I never spent them. Pen never met paper; keystroke never met screen.
Then the words started arriving as songs. And something changed I didn't expect: the writing became enjoyable. Enough to sit with a line until it was right. Enough to throw it out and write it again. For the first time, I wanted to.
Now I write. The melody was only the doorway — the craft is the room, and I've been happy to stay in it. This project is what came out: songs and stories that might be true.
