The project is simple to describe and slow to do. Study the people who did it best. Write until the studying shows up in the writing. Put the results where somebody can hear them, finished, rather than leaving them in a notebook where finished is a thing that never happens.

Why the songs sound finished

Because they are. I write the words and the shape and I use Suno to hear them out loud, with a band, in a room. I am open about that everywhere on this site because it is the single thing that turned a drawer of verses into a record.
